Regional Development Policy

National Agency for Regional Development participates in a policy planning process, drafting of bylaws, programme and development documents, and their implementation. In the process of establishing and strengthening the institutional infrastructure, it is responsible for the accreditation process, support and coordination of regional development agencies, as well as for evaluation of their work.

National Agency for Regional Development is also the Secretariat of the National Council for Regional Development. Apart from supporting regions to define their competitive advantages and create a recognizable brand, the role of the Agency is also reflected in organization of trainings for drafting projects relevant to regional development, and of consultation on regional development. Mapping of regions aims to form analytical-documentation foundation relevant to regional development, determine development profile of statistical regions of Serbia, and create a reliable basis for drafting the measures and projects of state support, which are in the function of more balanced regional development of Serbia.

National Council for Regional Development

National Council for Regional Development was established by the Government of the Republic of Serbia in order to provide and promote regional development. The Constitutive session of the National Council for Regional Development was held on 15 October 2010 in Zaječar.

Регионална развојна агенција је привредно друштво или удружење основано за обављање послова односно унапређење регионалног развоја, која је акредитована, у складу са овим Законом о регионалном развоју.

Mapping of regions

Mapping of regions aims to form analytical-documentation foundation relevant to regional development, determine development profile of statistical regions of Serbia at NUTS2 level, and create a reliable basis for drafting the measures and projects of state support, which are in the function of more balanced regional development of Serbia.

Regional branding

Recognition of a region, in light of regionalization of the Republic of Serbia and economic and administrative reinforcement of the region, would contribute to the overall social-economic improvement of the region.

Training in writing projects of significance for regional development

The aim of the training of local institution representatives in writing projects important for regional development is to train the employees in the local communities to actively participate in the international and national calls for Proposals (project proposals submission).

Consultation on Regional Development

Consultation on Regional Development, which is organized at regional level, aims to inform the target groups (SMEE sector, representatives of relevant state institutions, non-government and donor organizations, and domestic and international experts, banks, representatives of local self-governments) about the current topics and support instruments, which are of interest to balanced regional development. In the course of consultation, through comparative analyses of international and national experience in different fields of support, efforts will also be made to define certain solutions for the regional development support.
